I got word today that the Fathers Day Breakfast run by Dads in Education will be back again this year. This will be the 4th year this event has been run and it gets bigger each year. From its first year localised to the NSW Central Coast region this year it will encompass the whole of New South Wales. Just to be clear on the scale of the event that involves over 400 000 primary school students and their dads! Bacon and egg roles all round.

The students are each invited to write a story about the dad or significant male role model. The stories will be judged by the school staff and the winning entries will be displayed at a shopping centre in each region leading up to the Breakfast. On the morning of the Breakfast, the regional Father of the Year as written by the Kids and Most Inspirational Father will be announced coinciding with breakfasts in the schools all over NSW.

The ongoing success of this not-for-profit community project is testament to the dedication and hard work of the orgnisers, all of whom are volunteers. With sponsorship from major corporations and regional shopping centres this small group have beaten logistical and management challenges that rival a military operation. They deserve all our support.
